1823 note on public houses

One curious note on Public Houses in Framlingham was written in 1823 in the back page of W Edward’s copy of Loder1 (which is now in the Lanman Museum). On this page is a hand-written note headed ‘Public houses existing in Framlingham around 1750 and 1790’, which is copied below (with our best attempt at a transcript below that).

Some of the entries are of the form:

The Black Horse now Keers

The name after “now” in some cases refer to a change of name, but where the “now” name looks like a person’s surname, it probably refers to the owner. For example, Keer owned many Framlingham pubs at one point.
